Bio Brief
Welcome!
My name is Chengming Zhang, a Chinese international student. I am an industrial design major and focus on product design. This is my second year here in SFSU. I was a movie montage and economics major when I was in Community College. Later, I incidentally took a design class at a community college and met a professor who influenced my life. His name is Donald Barrie. In his class, he discovered my talent for art and encouraged me to transfer my major from Economics (that I didn't really like before) to Design. I had never in touch any drawing and painting before.
In addition to design, I also like pets, especially cats. I have raised a cat in China for 7 years. I have a cat in the United States with my former roommate for 3 years. For me, the cat can heal the soul.
As a product designer, I hope that I can design my favorite furniture and kitchenware in the future. Therefore, I like to visit a variety of interior design and Furniture stores when I am free.
Six keywords that would describe me would be Practice Quiet, friendly, Individuality, Curious and Family values.

ReplyDeleteIt was nice reading your bio and getting to know more about you. I knew you liked cats from other classes and projects we have worked on together but never knew you changed your major. I also changed my major before finding Industrial Design. Furniture and kitchen wear are both interests of mine as well in terms of design. I'm excited to see the work you produce this semester!
Hi Chengming! Its honestly nice to know that you are choosing a profession that you will truly enjoy since it will definitely be beneficial for you in the long run. Also, that cat picture is so cute - I want to pet it!

Chengming, your experience that found your way into design sounds to inspiring! Thank god for that teacher who helped you to see your potential and find your true dream sooner than later! Very impressed you have never had any art skills and became a product designer that's a hard thing to do! I also love cats! I have two myself, they make me feel whole so I agree they can heal your soul:)
